through their own PCs ect. Is this going to be an extension via Webrowser ? How far along the development stags is this . What's the team planning on calling this, and is there any GUI examples that might be shared? Thanks 😊
We don’t know for sure. It is likely to run in what is called a container (Docker). Which would allow for easy set up and consistency across platforms. I don’t think we will see a version of HPOS (HoloPort OS) that runs directly on different hardware. It is still Holo Hosting software so whatever you see for HoloPorts will be the same GUI.
Thanks Steven, yeah I'm currently a tester myself, I was just keen to see the progress in this if thre was any. I tried to sift my way through github but to no avail. When you say, HPOS not running directly on different hardware; sorry I've just woke up and not 100% understanding that. 😅
HPOS is a customised version of NixOS which in turn is a version of Linux. It is currently configured to run on the existing HoloPort hardware. The easiest way to port a Holo Host platform to other hardware would be to build a version that runs in Docker. [Note: I'm not that familiar with containerizing applications. Could be too many or bad assumptions here.] The Docker environment creates a hardware independent system for applications to run in. Similar to virtulization with VMware, Virtual Box, or Parallels. No matter the PC hardware, Dell, Acer, Apple, etc Docker ensures that only one verrsion of HPOS-PC version needs to be created.
