Eventually
Are you serious? You guys eventually plan on reducing the grace period from 1 hr to 0? Now Treasury is starting to seem greedy
That's how leverage works man. You need to make sure your HF stays above 1 or you get liquidated. Plan ahead and set price alert notifications BEFORE you reach your liquidation price. Never count on the grace period for your strategy
When it will zero then shift to x1 safe
The overall reason for grace period to exist was to make sure the community can learn how treasury works with minimal risk.
It's not like it wasn't announced at the start of the Treasury for people to get used to the treasury. Now the majority should be familiar with the treasury and it's your own responsibility to keep track of your leverage. Binance gives you a warning of liquidation and when the liquidation price is hit, you are done for it as well, no grace there
You mean you didn’t know?
Is it a idea to extend the grace period to 24H or 48H? Think about those who are working and don't have the time to react
If you don't have the time to follow up on your leveraged positions, then you shouldnt use leverage. You get extra APY for taking on an extra risk. Having a grace period of 24 hours removes that risk, so the treasury will suffer from that. You can stake at x1 with 0 risk..
Or a grace period that are shorter when you have the multiplier higher
How can you follow up on a leveraged position if the 1 hour liquidation grace period kicks in when you are sleeping? Humans need to sleep.
You can't, this is one of the questions to
If your liq price is 0.15$ for example, take action when price hits 0.17$. Don't wait for it to drop to 0.15.. I've det price alerts on different levels, so if something happens when I'm sleeping, I get alerted. Be proactive
That is taking the mick and taking advantage of investors!
That’s not the point if something is put in place like a grace period why take it away? That’s been dishonest and selfish
How is that taking advantage? You are free to chose what risk you are willing to take on, no one forces anyone to use a multiplier.. Liquidated assets go back into the treasury and get distributed to stakers. Its not that they go to the team wallet..
It was said from the start that the grace period is a limited thing
Risk or not people need a grace period!
In leverage context, there is no grace period.. you stop loss and exit or get your investment liquidated when the pricing is against your intended target.
I disagree.. but I made my points about it, so we can agree to disagree 😅 This is just how leverage works.. What I do think is very much needed, are better tools for ppl to manage their deposit and risk level: - treasury management through mobile app, so if ppl need to quickly top up or withdraw, they don't need a computer for that and can do it "on the go" - an online treasury "calculator" so ppl can try out different scenarios and see the effects of topping up a leveraged position at certain price points. (there is a community excel that can be used for that, but an online calculator would be more user friendly) - UI improvements (that shows info like the current grace period and a small overview of the risks associated with using leverage etc..) - notification system when you reach liquidation warning and when you reach liquidation
It’s a staking leverage big man! It’s not a normal leverage! If it is then I need to be able to long and short! So these grace period features need to be mandatory or it’s day light robbery
How is it different (from conceptual perspective) then ppl that are borrowing an asset like fUSD (using their FTM) to then restake their borrowed asset? It's the same thing but without the middle steps. If you stake 100k COTI at 2X, you are basically borrowing 100k and staking it in the treasury (so you are staking in total 200k COTI, hence the higher APY)
So when using the multiplier you are borrowing coti?
Basically it's an over-collateralized loan, yes. And the multiplier determines your collateral ratio. That's how I look at it
Don’t advertise you can top up the balance to prevent liquidiation if going to liquidate people as soon as hit 0.99 and boom it says zero the second it goes under 1
Then why not top up at 1.10? Or withdraw your deposit entirely before liquidation price is reached. Just saying, don't rely on the grace period for your strategy, cause that's a good way to get rekt. Take responsibility on your investments. I'm not saying you can't give feedback about it, it's very ok to let the team know that we don't want to get rid of the grace period, if enough ppl back it, I'm sure COTI will listen. Not gonna dwell into this much longer 😅 Enjoy the end of the weekend all!
You are right with that and the grace period is not to rely on it, but see it as a warning. You get the warning and are alerted to take any action if not you get LQ
We need a dao vote because this is one thing everyone would love
