there was a solution that would make everybody whole on their deposited value, but kill the protocol at the same time. Would that be a fair outcome of this crisis?
I think we can do better.
You forget the BNT holders though
It that situation, there are also BNT depositors. I assume you are inferring make TKN whole and burn BNT holders. I would argue that is not a fair or morally just position to take.
As an LP, the premise of the bnt holders saving the price of bnt before allowing creditors to fully withdraw is unethical in the business sense. The conflict of interest with bnt holders with $ price. We are talking about relative value which for all LP's is the TKN amount owing.
It's not a matter of that. Based on the level of liquidity leaving at the point of stopping the BNT mechanism, even allowing the process to continue would mean that TKN would have also have lost. Only those getting out early would have been able to made whole. The continue sell of BNT would have eventually put it at a price point that late withdraws of TKN would have received nothing. The health of BNT is tied directly to the health of TKN. It isn't a matter of saving one over the other, it is a matter of preserving all equally.
If we are to trust the general tone of proposals and forum discussions, the risk is minimal, as Bancor is already on it's way to recovery, correct?
i don't believe it is, they said it themselves, fees from lp will never cover IL, not even on uniswap
