I'Ve thought about the burn of vbnt To me it

seems as if those that stake vbnt are generally hodlers of bnt, and intend on utilizing bancor for the long haul

But the rent seekers in the past simply stake tkns, earn bnt then sell their bnt .. pushing the prices down or suppressing the price of bnt

So wouldn't it be worth a try for the vortex to burn bnt instead of vbnt ?

( my assumption is that the vbnt stakers don't intend on selling their bnt anyways so why not target the bnt directly and see what happens to the price / the deficit etc. )

This doesn't need to be a permanent change, simply a trial run for a week or two

Its financially beneficial to burn vbnt as its historically been much cheaper and at the moment still is. bnt is $.5 and vbnt is $.4 currently. They will switch to burning bnt when/vbnt becomes more expensive

Thanks for sharing. I understand that burning vbnt is essentially burning an even greater value of bnt. But these effects won't be seen until a user tries to withdraw their staked bnt and is unable to because some of their vbnt was bought and burned But this will only effect the users where they staked their VBNT correct? As this is the only vbnt thats available to be bought and burnt My assumption above was that those users that choose to stake their bnt and their vbnt are more likely to be long term users of the platform and are less likely to be those who sell their bnt positions So the vortex burning mechanism is targeting the long term users ( albeit are getting more bang for their buck ) and are not targeting the short term users / flippers etc of bnt

I'm on a few community members asses atm regarding this exact point for vbnt. There is no info on what vbnt lp's are to expect on withdrawal. I agree This needs to be highlighted

Essentially it's an oversight for the person who made that video to think that all bnt are equal If somehow we knew that this group of people would not sell their bnt.. then burning their vbnt really didn't make a difference Whereas if we burnt the bnt Or vbnt of those that were selling bnt down then this would make a difference

Yeah we are targeting or were targeting long time users. In v2.1 the vbnt pool only consisted of users that speculatively sold their vbnt for bnt. So those users would have knowingly sold the right to withdraw their staked bnt for another tkn. With b3 we were incentivizing users to stake their vbnt to earn trading fees. But this is where I don't like this, with ILP enabled, users would have been given bnt back for any difference which is fine, but moving forward, the pool will always be in deficit, so how are they expected to be made whole? DAI, BNT, something else?

Not sure, but the point that I was trying to make was that I think that burning bnt is at minimum worth a shot to see if this has a greater effect on the protocol than burning vbnt. I understand burning vbnt is more bang for your buck, but the argument that I made where not all bnt is = (depending on the user), leads me to the idea that burning bnt will have more of a positive effect than burning the vbnt of which that users bnt would have been less likely to be sold in the first place
