If Gilbert decided to sell QNT to another company, is

it written in the contract somewhere that the Network must use QNT? I’m just wondering what would stop someone from buying QNT out and then just doing away with the crypto aspect of it.

Has this ever been addressed?

Yeah really. For now while Gilbert owns it the token is needed, not sure about new owners. But, I'd imagine somewhere in all this code the QNT token is programmed in there since it's not just a crypto token, but a license.
