interested in Ergo for ages and have watched a lot on it and gone through the website but I still haven't pulled the trigger because I'm not 100% sure what makes it different. Can someone please summarise what makes this project unique and what use case Ergo has?
I admire the Devs, and especially the fair launch which will likely mean it escapes being classed a security. And I like the mixer, even though it has hints on Tornado Cash. But what would be the real world use case for Ergo?
What am I not seeing here?
It is an L1 with smart contracts built in from the beginning. The real world use case comes from dapps. What is the real world use case of eth?
Well, the dapps of course, but also if it is deflationary then a possible store of value also. That's my point though, with so many L1 coins they have to set themselves apart from the large caps in some way, surely?
Eutxo has more potential than account model, the gas fees on eth are prohibitive to everyday use. How many fair launch pow L1 with sc are out there?
True not many...Kaspa is a good example.
Oh they have smart contracts now?
Slim pickings, I think syscoin is maybe the only one but is ‘dual-chain UTXO / EVM architecture’
Eth use case = Meme coins
<cafebedouin> Try doing a transaction in ETH and a transaction in ERG, maybe try paying for it with a token. See which one makes that possible.
Well, good question. I think tooling needed for adoption is already mostly there or on the way, p2p lending in form of bonds or loans on exle, lending pools, Paideia fir daos or just multisig with minotaur, auctions for digital artists and so on. Countless economic experiments can be built on top of that. I personally recently provided a loan to a farmers cooperative in Kenya, in Sigusd using EXLE. To tackle with possible scalability issues, there are different L2 designs, not hard to build tools within an observable timeframe based on them. So what really prevents much wider adoption now?
Imo speed is big red flag for average user and emission is red flag for huge investors.
If you can create a bond in a sovereign way and get funded in minutes by a guy thousands kilometers away from you, why the speed could be disappointing? And what about emission?
That sounds so much work though !tip 100000 comet

It is "risky" to put big amount of cash rn to ergo when we have 30% inflation of circulating supply.

Ah I see, but we are heading towards aggressive emission reduction. I guess in 2-3 years there will be complaints that emission is too low and old ergo whales grabbed too much in early years lol.
Yep, good time comin :)
An opportunity for the space to create a true open source economy. A base layer with solid foundations to build upon. The use case is contractual money and it's been built from scratch with that in mind.
Now is the best time in the history of Ergo to buy ERG.
<cafebedouin> This is a great point. I'd bet a lot of SigmaFi loan taker are quite happy with the speed of those loans.
Thank you, really appreciate this.
You miss my point. Yes its good time for retail. For reaponsible bussiness it would be gambling. Would you hold 10mil.$ in cash if you knew that next year there will be 20% more $ in circulation ?
