tps is low single digits right now. this comes down to us from parity and the relay chain. including block time and the amount of wasm execution time that is allowed on the relay chain to execute parablocks. many of these are things which we cannot solve ourselves without help from parity.. but its running at a small fraction of what the throughput will ultimately be. the big unlock will be asynchronous backing, which should say 12x the throughput. as Robert Habermeier said: Theoretically, async backing can make things up to 12x faster. Blocks happen twice as often (12s -> 6s) and the lead time it introduces means blocks could get 6x more full.
