Is the utxo set snapshot optional? Like you set on

the parameters? Or when you update the node you really have no choice but to have the utxo set snapshot

not sure if there is an opt out conf but it's not much more data considering what is on top of the full node history...@kushti_ru ?

Will be set in the config file https://github.com/ergoplatform/ergo/blob/e63ea9bd39b676e5ce601bb766e774a2dc8f3a78/src/main/resources/application.conf#L26

What happens if every node on the network is bootstrapped? Wouldn't that mean that txs before the snapshot is lost? What about explorers? They need a fully synced node to function right?

qx()
yes and yes

Sounds dangerous......

<dΣathgripson> thats why its important for some maybe most to still run full nodes

You can avoid storing the snapshot. Bootstrapping with utxo set snapshot is non-default option atm and would be so for many months to come at least

Yes, well, explorer is currently working with few hardcoded nodes.
