Why didn’t moonbeam thought of the expansion to ethereum as

a layer 2 like astar did? Would have been a good move or?

hey, I would recommend checking out this discussion: https://forum.moonbeam.network/t/deploy-moonbeam-on-ethereum-as-a-layer-2/1233/

In short, Moonbeam-based connected contracts allow devs to connect to all EVM blockchains. Moonbeam is already compatible with both EVM and non EVM blockchains. this means that devs only need to explore the use cases and implement them. also, we are interoperable with the entire Polkadot ecosystem, and we benefit from all the advantages that Polkadot tech provides. while the bear market is tough for other ecosystems apart from Ethereum and its L2s, we are here for the long term. we are running a marathon, not a sprint :)

I read the whole conversation thank you! I understand all the points but one thing pointed out is really the absence of classic ethereum dapps deployed on moonbeam. I expected to see all the classic dapps to deploy immediately on moonbeam. The first ones who did: Lido - stopped it’s deployment and sushi swap and curve have almost no usage on moonbeam (please correct me if I am wrong) also that uniswap will be deployed to “only” use the tokens exchange on moonbeam instead of being the glue of all chains which uniswap is deployed on will also not bring the traction we wish for.

ser, the Ethereum ecosystem is already overflowing with various L2s. having deployed there, what will be our difference and advantage among others?
