The LINK token is an ERC677 utility token used to pay Chainlink node operators for their Web3 services, used as collateral to secure certain jobs and by the community as a mechanism to raise alerts if a feed's performance is subpar for any reason. This same logic applies to any Chainlink oracle service, CCIP included.
