Is there a plan to reduce inflation emissions? Or does

the protocol allow for inflation to go down as staking volume increases (such as COSMOS mechanism allows)?

AFAIK it's intended to switch off inflation at the end of the year and then all emissions would come from the various pools of tokens built up, so the total supply would be then fixed

My current unofficial personal estimate with no knowledge of any adjustments that might be planned and on the assumption that inflation is tuned off at the 23:59 UTC 31st December is approximately 1,080,000 Kava
