Dear Charlie @coblee I will try to answer with fairness and

respect to some of the points which you raised and made me want to answer. If I disagree on some of them I am not against you I have in mind the good of Litecoin and I hope you receive this as constructive criticism:

First point which you raised is that anything you think of for raising the price are bad things. Which is partially true: probably most of the efforts made for driving prices higher (in crypto world) are wrong ethically speaking, and we definitely don't want to go into that. However, not all of them are necessarily wrong, and it is this that the community has been asking for when they say we should do 'marketing': some healthy way of making people aware that we exist and that we bring something valuable which deserves their attention. If the marketing is done honestly, it is a service to people: you reach people who could potentially be interested in Litecoin but for some reasons do not know about it or have a wrong idea about it which needs to be corrected.

Second point you raised is that your strategy for the price is to focus on adoption and let the price fix itself in the long run. Here, I think this is one of the biggest disagreement I possibly have with your ideas: the price won't fix itself out of nowhere, there's no proof that anything does it anywhere. Litecoin is technologically superior to almost everything in crypto, and is even arguably superior to Bitcoin, especially with the MWEB upgrade making it fungible and thus a real currency (compared to Bitcoin at the moment). In other words, Litecoin is fundamentally sound. Yet, if you look at the long run, Litecoin has been on a massive downtrend against Bitcoin. It's been doing so for so many years and it even reached new all time lows regardless of the fact that we got a massive upgrade. I think that your reasoning comes from a bias on natural selection in animals: whoever has the objectively better genes eventually wins over the others. However, when you look at real life in MAN-MADE things (products, services, successful companies ...) whatever is objectively better doesn't win. It's actually often the opposite. How many companies who had an objectively better product were the ones to not make it, or to be acquired and absorbed by a bigger competitor to never be heard of again ? You are a dev, how many pieces of software which were crappy and had way better alternatives still ended up being the ones adopted by the majority (internet explorer) ? There are MANY things which influence humans in what they adopt or don't adopt, and fundamentals only play a portion of this. The 'market will sort itself out' is a narrative which ignores medias, biases, education, social medias, market makers, big players... Reality for something such as crypto is way more complex than "the best will win" as unfortunate as it sounds. The fact that shiba inu has outranked us for longer than it is comfortable to admit is an easy proof of the fact that no the best doesn't easily win, especially not in crypto.

Thirdly, you seem to think that price only matters for speculators. I disagree, it is legitimate to care about making sure that the price goes up in the long-term, and it is actually the only way that it could work: this is a deflationary currency (technically still inflationary at the moment with mining rewards), which means that the scarcity should drive the price up in the long term. If the price doesn't go up, it means that the demand is not there. If the demand is not there, then it means that adoption is a failure. In fact, price is crucial and plays a key role for adoption: people who are happy about their adventure in Litecoin are more likely to contribute and spread the word as you seem to suggest we should do (and we definitely should, but that's just one part of the work, not everything).

I don’t disagree with most of what you are saying. I don’t think price is only for speculators. Agree that a rising price helps adoption and awareness, and even morale of the developers working on Litecoin. I get it. Marketing helps awareness and price. I get it. We are doing what we can with marketing. If others can contibrute, please do. But there’s only so much we can do to make the price go up. In the end the market has to see the value for people to invest in Litecoin. Ask me a year ago, I would have bet a million dollars that the MWEB launch would be good for price. No way we would be ATL against BTC. No way! But here we are. As for decentralization of governance, I disagree. For Litecoin to truly succeed, governance has to be decentralized. For now it is centered around me. And that’s fine because it’s a tradeoff between decentralization and efficiency and efficiency is more important right this moment. Eventually, I will leave whether willingly or unwillingly. And Litecoin needs to be able to survive and thrive without me. So I’m moving it towards that direction one step at a time. I don’t use decentralization to justify bad decisions. Time will tell whether or not those were bad decisions. I can only act according to what I think is best for Litecoin. You and others may not agree and that’s your perogative, but that’s not going to change my mind. 🤷‍♂️
