Bitcoin?
Great question! The answer imho is a few things. Firstly the investment happens simply because of ignorance of the average no coiner. They’ve heard briefly about this bitcoin thing and heard all the stories of people who have become millionaires and billionaires. So bitcoin is a very very familiar name. Statistically when it comes to advertising in the USA it’s better for 1 person to see an advert 17 times, rather than 17 people see the advert once. So generally people will invest in things that are a household name/familiar. They still can’t explain what s blockchain is yet it’s in their portfolio. Look at how doge coin went up after a simple tweet from Elon. This unfortunately is mankind and the majority of people who don’t ever dig deep into the tech side. Just like diamond prices. Diamonds can now be made in a lab that cannot be differentiated, yet people still buy expensive mined diamonds at up to 4x the price. I don’t think this mentality of human nature will change in our lifetime and bitcoin will always be seen as a digital gold with some sort of rarity, even though people like us know it’s completely impractical, inefficient, slow, and super bad for the environment. So it has everything the majority of non crypto people will go for. Familiarity, proof of crazy past gains, a bitcoin halving, rarity, been around for a while, number 1 spot on CMC alongside everyone on social media and mainstream media either telling others to always have Btc as a major part of their portfolio or showing the extravagant gains respectively. Even I have a percentage of bitcoin, not because I care about it’s use but I care about what the majority of peoples mindset in always investing in bitcoin first
