at the moment kava does not have a prioritized mem pool, which means that if volume goes up prices stay the same, just transactions are not going through as fast. also a lot of UIs, especially the kava web app, charge much more than what is needed to transact. theoretically you only need to pay as much as the gas price times gas required and overpaying on transactions brings virtually no benefit. there is only one thing that slightly influences this which is the min fee on the validator side, which means some validators don't include transactions below a certain amount.
