How does holochain compare to freenet/locutus?

I took a look too. In addition to what has already been told to you, an important thing to say is that Freenet is a content sharing network (similar to BitTorrent to be clear) and Holochain is a framework for building distributed, and if necessary also collaborative, applications . Not to mention the programming language used. In summary, the difference between the two things is truly enormous. Maybe you found some similarities in data sharing, but searching for data in the network, in this specific case Freenet, is very expensive in terms of network resources and bandwidth because they are wasted with huge message queries in the network itself ( when you have to look for them I mean). So it's not very efficient. Furthermore, Freenet does not have, as far as I know, a standard for new nodes to join the network with the consequent "poor security" of the network. You could go on and on but you can delve deeper on your own if you are interested 😃🙏

Interesting I have never seen freenet before.. At a glance, one biggest difference is that the Freenet DHT is not a validating DHT, and as a result there is no guarantee of data integrity. This make is unsuitable for things like currencies or anything that requires a high degree of data integrity. There are a bunch of other Holochain concepts that Freenet does not have such as Membranes and application DNA's.

Exact. In fact, the objective of Freenet is to guarantee the anonymity of the nodes rather than the speed of search or the reliability of the information for example
