The network got desharded with the 9.3 version. Earlier, it was

expected that desharding will make the network faster, hence, faster block production (especially DS epoch block that used to be minted for 5-6 minutes), hence, dynamic rewards (in case Zilliqa produce too many bock, so avoiding inflation).
Before 9.3, there were 2600+- blocks minted a day.
After 9.3 there are 2400+- blocks a day. The network got... Slower? Why?
Also, there were 65-66k txs a day before 9.3
Now there are around 20k txs as it was long ago. But I will leave out the question about the suspicious number of txs on the Blockchain.
But why did the network become even slower after desharding?

Not something we control all that hard and not something we have immediate control of in Zilliqa 1. I suspect this is because we've increased some of the timeouts in mainnet to cope with the load testing just before this release, but I'm afraid that given the state of the software Miners are using, block times are very much what they are.

So, very unlikely to see around 20 seconds per block as it was expected earlier after desharding? Dramatic changes will occur only when PoS Zilliqa 2.0 after Q2 2024?

Let's wait for few more days/weeks. Block production should improve once all miners have joined & once they started using better software OS. The sample size of only 4 days is very small to conclude anything.

Ok, let's see. I only use previous observations. Let's be honest, withing the last couple of years, after every network update, the number of minted blocks remained pretty much the same as it was in the first days after the upgrade. No significant changes were seen. Before 9.3, we started making 2600+- from day 1 after the previous upgrade. And it stayed pretty much the same until the last day. Before that, the number was 2400+-. From Day 1. Before 2200. Earlier 2400. Now 2400 Day 1. My bet - it will remain 2400 until the next change.

Have you tried sending funds on-chain post Network upgrade? Few users reported it was very fast. I myself have not tried honestly because I have been busy helping out everyone who needs help post network upgrade. Give it a try & let me know if you feel any difference.

I sent a few + some smart-contract calls. It is... Pretty much the same. How can it be faster than the block minting? You send the trx, you wait for a block or 2 as before. Usually around 30 seconds (as before). Nothing changed here, it could only become slower (2400 blocks vs 2600), but you won't feel that difference. So, all in all, it the same. The biggest disappointment is the DS epoch block minting. As it took around 5-6 minutes, it is still the same, desharding didn't do any magic here. If you submitted txs on block 98 or 99 - well, you can go make some tea while it is confirmed, I quite often win in this "lottery".

Yeah DS block has been something everyone has problem with from a long time. I don't think we said it will go away with desharded network. It is important to perform a DS Block so that all miners perform a POW to get included in DS shards. Don't think it will go away anyway until transition to Proof of stake. Let's wait for few more days/weeks to see if Block production/days improve or not.
