Even though we actually prefer to communicate actual news and decisions rather than interim results, we can of course still provide an update on what we are currently focusing on and what is keeping us busy.
In the last few blogs, we have pointed out feature-based developments, especially in relation to UB.ONE. These are still valid and also have a high priority, at least as far as the development side is concerned.
As far as business development is concerned, and the associated answers to questions such as "Who uses which Unibright solution when, how much and to what extent", we have already explained in the blogs that we are a) focusing on demonstrating the value and benefits of blockchain technology in connection with "more general" integration projects and b) also working on white label setups.
At the moment, we believe that blockchain alone is not an easy sell in the enterprise environment:
- Blockchain has only a minor share of technology stacks used in enterprise applications
- Many companies are reluctant to launch projects under the label "blockchain", as the broader crypto scene raises concerns and fears
- In general, blockchain projects are still seen as innovation projects. However, blockchain is not the only innovation in the technical field; companies are currently at least as interested in other topics, such as artificial intelligence.
Despite these obstacles, there are many interesting projects in which blockchain can be a significant part of the solution, but which do not necessarily have to be implemented using blockchain technology in 100% of the solution: In most cases, a lot of preparatory work in the direction of digitalization and/or integration has to be done before blockchain can even become relevant as a technology.
These findings are not necessarily new, but they become all the more important the longer you are active on the market and the longer you wait for the "big adoption" - and not just in relation to Unibright, but to enterprise blockchain applications as a whole. At this point, for example, we would like to take the freedom of pointing out quite immodestly that the Baseline Protocol is nowhere near as active and productive as it was when Unibright took on (and was able to take on) a leading role.
So, what do we make of this? At the moment, in addition to development work, we are primarily concerned with how to establish Unibright in a setup in which we can successfully help shape innovation-related projects, even if the blockchain part of these projects only becomes interesting in a later phase of the project or perhaps only plays a minor role.
At the same time, however, we want to handle these types of projects in a way that does not "bypass" UBT or Unibright ONE / Baseledger (and thus indirectly also UBT). We have some concrete ideas here, e.g. to offer development services from us, our employees and partners for payments in UBT, as we already did successfully a few years ago as part of our Unibright Solution Workshops. At that time, however, it was primarily "only" about initial consultation and "brainstorming", rather than complete projects.
We cannot yet announce anything definitive in this regard, as we are still thinking about it and there are also regulatory and tax aspects associated with such considerations that also need to be clarified. Normally we only go public with an update when all these things have been clarified, but as said, this time we want to meet the demand for news a little earlier, albeit somewhat informally via Telegram and not officially via blog and newsletter.
Great thanks to have heard the community and deliver this update. Keep on doing the good work.
Thanks for update Stefan, keep up the great work👏👏👏
Thank you Stefan, Marten and the whole team for all the good work and keeping us updated 🙏
Great to have some news, very much appreciated.
as much this was a relief to know that ubt isnt dead yet and there is ongoing work behind the scenes which nobody knows about (due to lack of marketing), the holders of the $UBT however havent seen any relief till now, since price of $UBT is at same point it was at the ICO of 0.05 cents and very painfull to watch and hold this token in the hope that someday there will be traction in the use of the products by the Unibrights client and the UBT token would finally be used as inbound gas/fee token. I have been a investor in the UBT more than anyone here, and all I can say is its very disappointed in the team who belittle the token holders and have always disagreed to any marketing or advertisement of the UBT ecosystem and its product which would reflect the increment in the prices of the underlying token or else we are holding and hoping that UBT vaporware would somehow go up in prices and we would sell it to the companies one day
Another whinger. For someone who has invested more than anyone else you don't even know what the ico price was?
Why don't you have a bit of an edit and put the correct ICO price in?
Maybe there is no use case for a permissioned blockchain and this project should pivot to an Ethereum L2. You know, what every other L1 seems to be doing.
That’s an interesting idea Stefan … All software (startups) are continually accessing their product & market fit … Personally I feel I don’t understand how UB One & UBC will gain traction Firstly I’d say we are still too early & lacking enough insight at this stage - I believe we’ll see much more engagement of UBC via the SAP community soon - only having DMP still feels like something of a novelty - whereas having a few more ideas built out - will greatly expand all our expectations I also feel the area were we all lack understanding is how UB One & UBC could be fully developed so a high percentage of users naturally gravitate to using BaseLedger Design & perceived value - help - usage will build long term retention & lessens churn … The Train is just leaving the station - we still need this year to build momentum- the coming months will reveal a lot
If we have learned anything from this early bull market, it is that alt-L1s don’t really have PMF (especially not if a dozen of permissioned validators are the network) and the momentum is with (optimistic or ZK-proof) rollups.
Indeed Stefan - there are numerous considerations However - Baseledger was launched as part of an overall solution as the partner was unable to deliver on their promises Baseledger became (almost) a standalone solution that would require considerable work to integrate - then the SaaS market tanked … S1seven Developed DMP as a world class solution via UBC they already had a private blockchain solution they no doubt had placed considerable resources into - so not a typical customer My point is - UniBright are now positioned to onboard SAP customers as an example - UB One & UBC will be there first interaction with UB - A fresh perspective - as SAP customers explore UBC for themselves then build out there desired solutions they can either use BaseLedger or not The Question then is how does the development work flow make sense to them. - it’s the features that bring the product to life - the use case relative to their needs - for some the unique benefits of BL are just another part of the solution - they really don’t care if it’s “Blockchain” they care about the overall products ability to fit their needs Where this all gets extremely interesting is for me - SAP has multiple ways to engage with their audience Having workshops that show exactly how to use UBC - UB One & BaseLedger - Ub now have the possibility to easily onboard new users These new users learn how it all fits together & simply use the parts that best fit their needs … Whether it’s an in-house IT team / engineer or those seeking the white label solution to address their existing clients or launch new ides Addressing these markets are a massive move forward Thousands of potential users can easily be addressed
I agree. Just a reminder. SAP has 400000 customers worldwide....
See you till next year.
