it would sync if left running in the background. I say “if” - actually, you could never really close out of the application (perhaps a build flaw?) So to get the “music to stop”, ie the app, you would have hard shut down the phone to get it close.

BTW, if you only want to run a crypto wallet on a degoogled phone you don't have to buy an expensive Google pixel capable of running grapheneos. You can buy an old samsung phone even from 2013-2014 (like Samsung galaxy S3 neo, S4, S5 etc) and install there /e/OS or lineagesOS. It will work just fine.
