not necessarily. the coordination server provides a "free service" at best , so its not a business, so it cant be a money transmitting business, so what laws would it be breaking?

its all relative. always some degree of risk in all activities. obviously, we should try to stay within what the laws allow. afaik its not illegal to run, say, a monero node or whatever

Usually, yes, maybe there is something about these cases we don't know yet. I mean it was always tricky to even figure out what BTC service is custodial an which is not.

did you read the actual samurai case? they did pretty much everything wrong - collected fees - made a business out of it - ran their own infrastructure - openly made statements welcoming illicit markets and sanctioned entities

Yes I agree. I'm more inertested in the Phoenix case. Are they sued too or are they moving out preemtivly? From my perspective they should be good.
