I think, Evm mean ethereum virtual machine. In such case iota evm running on top of etherium

Yes it means ethereum virtual machine but it doesnt run on top of ethereum. It runs on top of iota which is much cheaper

Old iota is the layer 1. Evm is running on top of it. Layer 1 is totally alive
