Open source is building and improving to grow the network effect. Sure, someone else could copy and try to compete, and if they are better at it, they might. But instead you’ll likely see companies using the available resources to build on top of it if the foundations are solid (Linux is a good example I think)

Let me explain it to you, Your Mobile phone is nothing if you have no one to talk to on the other end right? Thats same with the chain. If you build a private one, yes you can use it to control your internal supply chain or how things are going on. But No one will trust you if you are showing the truth or no. Open source is for a reason open, Transparent, verifiable by everyone so no one can change it
