it affects block production benchmarks and/or missed blocks?
I imagine it'll negatively effect the benchmarks at first but in Telos the shit BPs are auto kicked from what I understand, so it'll be short lived.
My assumption is that a low ranked standby is not always going to be running the same kind of premium infrastructure that is common amongst BPs who are regularly in the top 21 as it would be cost prohibitive from a business standpoint. Sure they could produce blocks, but not necessarily with the performance.
What is the means by which a BP would get "kicked"? Who makes those decisions?
I'm not positive...I will ask. It was mentioned during our livestream today that this was the case. I didn't realize it was automatic if thats in fact the case.
Any idea why Telos isn't supported on alohaeos anymore? It's hard to make any comparisons without that data
you can autodetect and kick, our solution had kick after 2 or 3 rounds
I think they retired their Telos BP a while back, and along with it all their services.
To be completely fair, and not targeting anyone in particular, but being in the top 21 doesn’t immediately mean they have quality or performance. We have issues today with CPU billing times - which I’ve suspected having to do with hardware quality.
On Telos a BP can be kicked if they don't comply with governance. I'm not sure this is up to date, but here are the requirements: https://www.telos.net/governance
No, a kick isn't automated. There is a Telegram KickBot, but it only shows aspects of non-compliance. Then someone can propose a kick-msig and argue why someone should get kicked. Here's the source to the kickbot. https://github.com/TelosGlobal/kickbot2
Yes, that was the reason they retired those services. Here's a link to a replacement of those monitors: https://app.telos.net/validators (Click on "Graph" button for charts).
Awesome! I totally missed this one and didn’t realize there was a replacement, so glad to see it.
I remember aloha had an automated MSIG proposed every time a certain number of rounds were missed by a BP for EOS.
