So ‘what if’ telos counted their consensus messages as tps.

What would tps be? Then make a twitter post calling out solana and saying this is what our tps would be if we counted them like solana 🔥

It's kind of meaningless number, better if Solana were to count actual txns

yeah and how do we know telos is being honest about their metic? (previous was stated evm would do 10k tps) maybe solana could find something wrong with the stated 6k tps

Well that is the problem, they did tests and they were able to sustain 1,600 or 1,800 tps continuous. They couldn't really get their test rigs to output more txns per second. Then they used that to find the bottlenecks and fix them before they launched the evm. 6k tps is an estimate

The question can be directed back at Solana as well, what is the most tps they have ever been able to process continuously ...

The problem is Solana combines consensus with user transactions… they can’t easily count them separately from what I understand. This means surges of user traffic can impact consensus, which is why we’ve seen so many network downtimes for them.

Also note that when Solana get busy they start dropping txns

Also this… it’s actually pretty hard to get 1000’s of transactions to arrive at once in the same .5sec block. Especially with EVM where each account can only send one at a time due to the enforcement of the nonce incrementing. To get 2000 TPS you need 2000 addresses to send transactions all at the same time, which doesn’t require 2000 machines doing it but certainly is hard with just 10-20.
