There wasn’t a clear path towards a use for those funds. At the time, B1 was waving around the “we’re going to vote for BPs” sledgehammer while poopooing all of the WPS systems that were being proposed to use those funds. Not defending the decision, it was just the situation at that point in time. Also, there’s nothing stopping BPs today from “unburning” those tokens and putting them to use, though I’m sure there’d be a significant amount of controversy around anything like that.

Not sure how the burning process was but haven't more tokens accumulate in that account since? Or was the account disappeared?
