RSR will indeed have #staking once mainnet launches. The platform to stake on will be permissionless and no-KYC, meaning that anyone who holds RSR can choose to stake. Whether everyone could actually buy RSR (either from a CEX or a DEX) is a different question - but there are no geographical restrictions put into place for staking RSR via the Reserve Protocol.
How do I stake my RSR? RSR holders can choose to stake their RSR on any Reserve stablecoin in order to insure it against default of any of its collateral tokens. In return, the RSR staker earns a portion of the revenue that RToken makes 💰 🕓 Staking of RSR will become available upon mainnet launch (for more info on mainnet type #mainnet) 📹 We will release a tutorial video around mainnet launch to show you exactly how RSR staking can be done — Wallets that can be used for staking — ✅ WalletConnect (Ledger, Trust, ...) ✅ WalletLink (Coinbase) ✅ Metamask ✅ Fortmatic ✅ Trezor For more detailed information on RSR staking, please refer to: https://reserve.org/protocol/2021_version/#rsr-staking
The APY won't be a fixed APY, it will be dynamic based on a few parameters, the most important ones being (a) the current circulating supply/market cap of the Reserve stablecoin you decide to stake on and (b) the amount of RSR staked on that stablecoin. The more popular a Reserve stablecoin becomes, the more attractive it could be to stake RSR on it (as its APY might be higher). However, higher APY stablecoins will then again attract more RSR holders to want to stake their tokens on that stablecoin, diluting the APY for the rest of the RSR stakers in that pool. Can’t wait. I’m trusting that the team will make it easy to bridge from the ERC 20 version to the mainnet?
We will continue to use the ERC-20 version to stake. Reserve will launch on Ethereum mainnet initially, and currently does not have any plans to create its own blockchain.
Thank you for that clarification. I would also hope that Reserve goes cross chain at some point because of the astronomical gas fees on ETH.
The team does intend to expand to Ethereum L2s and potential other L1s in the future, indeed.
Great! It’s hard not to be excited about the project. I’m not quite “all in,” but RSR is a good part of my portfolio. Here’s to hoping the overall market recovers 🍻
