creation of ust /luna?
why isnt the team creating 1 rtoken on its own? or RSV will be the major rtoken?
Hey Xin, here's what I've shared in the Discord this morning about this topic: I noticed that during & after yesterday's call some people were still a bit confused about the Reserve core team intending not to launch any RToken themselves. I've just listened to the recording, and here's my quick meeting notes of what Nevin talked about (we'll share the recording soon): - There's a small legal reason for the core team not releasing an RToken itself, but that's not the main reason. - The main reason is that not doing so will make it extra clear to the community that anyone can create an RToken. - When the community grows, and people are learning about Reserve for the first time, it could be really beneficial for them to hear that "the founding team did not create any RTokens themselves", as they'll immediately understand that that's something they can do themselves in a permissionless way. So the thinking behind this seemed mostly focused on the narrative for Reserve, rather than any other reasons. I do think that we need to find better ways to explain this to the current community, though, as I feel some people here are worrying that they now need to trust potentially unexperienced strangers to create robust RTokens for them to stake on, or feel that the Reserve core team is now "hands off" the platform. @footballr23 - it seems like your concern was just that. Just FYI, the Reserve team will be very vocal about which RTokens we believe are robust and which we think aren't. So if you were looking for confirmation by Reserve that the RToken you stake on is not a "ponzi" (as you put it), then you'll for sure get that. In summary, I think it's safe to assume that (some of) the RToken ideas shared by the team yesterday will get created by the community, and the core team will deploy resources to grow those. So the results would be similar as if the Reserve team would've created them (excl. the narrative part).
thanks for the lengthy explanation. I still have many concerns would rsv still be an equivalent of an rtoken? as in, allow rsr to be staked onto rsv (insure rsv) would rsv be used and marketed in a way to solve hyperinflation? so after the enourmous amount of effort of "creating the best stablecoin" and researching of ways to create one, including reviewing other unstable coins like luna/ust, / reviewing dai, the product of the above would be to just "leave it to the community to create rtokens"? and these rtokens, created "by the community" is supposed to solve hyperinflation in countries? isn't this the same as"ive created a marketplace for stablecoins, but you guys figure out how to solve inflation"?
No, that's not it. We're purely talking about the creating step itself. All the thinking about what the best RTokens might be will still happen by the Reserve core team along with the rest of the community. It's not like the core team now stops creating that ideal currency we've always aimed to create.
good to hear that the core team still have that vision in mind. thanks for the detailed explanation sinatra :)
