The scenario is that the user bought pirate on an exchange ... so they do not yet have their private keys. They are attempting to withdraw to their lite wallet, but the withdrawal fails. How does the desktop wallet "recover" anything, given that the only two parties involved so far were the lite wallet and the exchange.

I believe perhaps you are saying that the transfer did occur, and that, should one choose to use the same seed phrase in their desktop "heavy" wallet, as they used in their mobile wallet, they would be able to access the coins?

I cannot cause a failure from exchange to Mobile Wallet, so I can't replicate the issue. However, I can confirm that using the same seed phrase in Treasure Chest that was used in the mobile wallet does link the two to the same keys, so perhaps this is what was meant.

There was a bug in TC v5.5.0 which when using the RPC function z_buildrawtransaction was triggering a note format that was not yet activated. It was not yet activated because I have not yet updated all the wallets to be able to decrypt the new format. Only TC has the proper code. The bug was corrected in TC v5.5.1 and the lite wallets will be updated, however I dont have a timetable on that yet.. All of the exchanges known to use that RPC have been advised to update their nodes and all users effected are being advised to used TC.

5.5.1 was released shortly after 5.5.0. 5.5.0 is fine unless you an exchange using z_buildrawtransaction.
