Pomelo can be easily gamed is the problem. Sybil attacks are too easy. Make an account via Wombat or pay via Anchor, fund it from an exchange, vote for your own projects with large amounts from these accounts but be sure to send a couple eos to some other random grants so its not so obvious. Successful attack complete, rinse and repeat. If the attacker was extra diligent they'd try to do the odd tx with their fake accounts between pomelo seasons. In order for pomelo to fix this they need to solve sybil with the community donations. Good thing Eden does this via accounts that participate in elections, but the other language communities aren't being empowered to get up and running so its not fair to leverage Eden when there is only the English one. The current Eden CDs have asked for an additional 50k EOS from the network to help bolster our funds so we can not only assist with the Hypha DAO integration (which has been requested, but never responded to funding this request) and Eden can take it upon itself to help the other communities get the funds they need to stand up their own communities. Ideally we have an Eden community for the 4 big languages (English, Chinese, Korean, and Spanish) and then pomelo can provide an incredibly high trust bonus for those members thereby diluting the attacker's sybil attack and influence.
