the wrong way, i watch Emin's videos which are great, he always says Avalanche is decentralized but then he pretty always talk about the team and product managers etc...how is Avax decentralized when he is pretty much the CEO and avalab control the code and what goes into it ?
Everything is open source and anyone can contribute to the repos + speak with the core devs on discord (chat.avax.network) But to put this in to perpective, there are only a handful of Bitcoin core devs, but BTC is regarded by many as the “most” decentralized. Avalanche also has 1,200+ nodes securing the network, with the highest nakamoto coefficient - this is another measure of decentralization
I actually run a node myself :) Still curious to know how the "anyone" can push code....how many people have the right to accept/reject? how is that decided? as far as i know there is no voting system but i might be wrong. And yes i know the limitation of BTC as well...still its the most known and wide spread so i doubt it will change anytime soon...i'm more interested in avax
Anyone can make a pull request to the AvalancheGo repo. The AvalancheGo devs (Avalabs, usually Patrick O'Grady or Stephen Buttolph) can then choose to include your code after reviewing it or not.
Exactly this. The devs are super responsive on discord and you can also get their attention by posting on forum.avax.network. It’s still early days and we’re not a protocol level voting/governance yet, but we will get there 😄
