that worry me and I think will have a negative impact to what the current TCD team has their eyes set on…which we have just been presented as Telos Zero. If a community elected board has the ability to completely redirect the focus of the TCD (vs the current team), there is a great risk they could derail the strategic vision that has just been presented. This team has a track record of making great technical moves (IE first EVM on EOSIO tech). I'd personally like to continue giving them the opportunity to execute on their vision before a change in management like this.
The other just general point on this Oversight Board is how competent are our average Telos voters at being able to select the best Board that will set the entire technical direction of the Network's main development team? I may know a bit about technology, but I'm nowhere near qualified to vote for the best team to do this. I don't think I'm alone there. Its one thing to vote for Guardians that you trust to make ethical choices and provide transparency, its completely different to select based on technical merit for average community members.
I trust the Telos community to produce good candidates for the TCD board and vote them in. You discount the intelligence of the community. Somehow, the same kind of vote got you onto the TF board. Why wouldn't it work as well or better here where we need to find 4 good candidates? The TF is a marketing organization, not a development organization. The TCD board should be made up of people with experience in leading development organizations and fortunately we have many such people in our community. The big problem with the TCD is that it has no governance at all. No organization with that many community funds should have zero oversight. I'm a big fan of the TCD but it isn't perfect. I've been hearing that EVM 1.5 is coming out any day for over half a year now. Nothing has been done about making REX Staking have a 10-day unstaking period as was voted in the TEDP3. The new Telos website is supposed to be coming out, but when? What about the speed testing that we started many months ago? These are examples of where there is poor transparency and communication about what the TCD is doing and no opportunity for the community to call for certain things to be done. It's not due to NDAs or anything except that the TCD administration doesn't want to do it and there's no one who tells them that they must. An oversight board will fix that.
