Hey everyone, Just wondering, what is the difference between Telos approach

to gaming and Ultra’s approach to gaming?

In the sense that they have build a gaming platform and gaming blockchain. What is the difference between what they have done and what Telos is planning to offer the gaming space?

Telos can spin-off a Game specific chains customized for the game with interoperability between other chains.

One of the biggest differences generally between Ultra and Telos is Ultra is a private blockchain. That means for example its not open to just anyone to become a blockproducer, while Telos is a fully public permissionless blockchain where anyone can become a block producer (of course they need to get the votes to move up the ranks). As far as their approach to gaming and gamefi, Ultra (as you know) is purpose built to be a gaming blockchain. So it will cater to that particular niche of users and projects to build on it. Telos, being a more general purpose blockchain, can have a far greater diversity of users and projects to build on it, which in the end might be more 'useful' for GameFi. IE there will be multiple marketplaces possible for in-game assets. Also the idea of 'governance as a service' which can be very useful for various gaming projects from sybil defence, to dispute resolution is far easier to build on Telos vs Ultra. Just so its clear I really do like what Ultra is doing, with the biggest 'downside' if you can call it that, is the chain itself isn't open sourced, and not fully public/permissionless.

Great question! Ultra is an EOSIO-based (They have not adopted the Antelope software yet to my knowledge) blockchain with many similarities to Telos native. One of the biggest differences is that they only use the Antelope/EOSIO interfaces, not EVM. Antelope is powerful but EVM is where the users are. Ultra is not community governed and decentralized. That isn't part of their DNA as it is with Telos. That may not matter to gamers, in their estimation, as I understand it. They are aiming to work directly with top game manufacturers. Telos GameFi also seeks to work with top game companies and per the discussion around the TEDP4, the TF has lined up some big partners already that have yet to be announced. That's about as much as I know about Ultra. @Randomnobody was one of Ultra's top devs before moving to ENF and I think his brother Rami James is still there, so maybe Nathan can direct you to more current information.

i would think of Ultra as a gaming business/platform built on a blockchain (granted it is their own one). Telos a massive world computer (decentralised eco system/global state machine) that is built for gaming, defi and other high throughput use cases. Third parties would imo be more inclined to build on a public/neutral eco system like ours. Having said that what ultra is building is really awesome, looks like a steam competitor that im sure will see a lot of traction with top tier gaming studios to sell their digital games and nft collectables. Guessing we will see own steam competitors built on telos one day and they might compete with ultra but telos itself is a different thing to ultra. main point here is - Ultra and Telos are not competitors - its a very different product

I hope one of those partners is Rockstar or EA lol

Why not both! Rockstar, EA, maybe Sony and Microsoft haha
