How official will it be I guess is the question?

If it enables minting from the tether portal (preferably onto native or evm) I think it is worth strong consideration - a trustless bridge will need to enabled from native to evm for it ofcourse.

My understanding is that wouldn't be the case but if it is then it's a different ball game especially given current market issues.

That would be a good conversation to open up with Yves. My understanding is that it would be official official. Anyone can create an IBC bridge, but eos will only support one that is paid for. That was a pretty clear point he made. The price sounded too steep at the time, but recent events may show it to be of value. Once there was an official deployment, we wouldn't have to worry about another bridge closing in the future.
