have recently created a keystore wallet for a friend and haven't created one in a while. My surprise was that when I logged the walled in the web browser, initially it told me to choose which address wallet I want to access. The first one is the wallet in the erd file name, but there are tens of other addresses. And I have no idea what does other addresses are. Any idea? Thank you in advance.
Yes, that's normal, you have the possibility to choose between multiple addresses but if you choose the first one, that's the one you'll use. Also, remember: Admins will never message you first! Never ever share your Secret Phrase / keystore file/ password with anyone!
But what are the other addresses? Sub wallets? In the same main wallet? Like multiple bank IBANs in the same bank account?
An infinite number of public addresses can be derived from one private key. The MultiversX wallet now generates a few more apart from the main one in case you want to have multiple addresses for different purposes. For example staking, active trading, or for one time use in case you might want to transfer money to a friend and you don't want to let him know how much you hold in your main address. But remember that all these require the same key to unlock, enter and move funds.
Quick question about what you said (the part "one time use case"): won't the transaction be traceable to the initial main wallet [trx path: main wallet -> one time wallet -> friend wallet ]?
The complete process would involve a mixer, like a CEX. Why not sending directly from CEX? Because friends tend to send money back, especially if they are new, and the money would go to the hotwallet.
