Anyone really understand what polkadot 2.0 means in simple terms

please. Are they moving been a parachain or relay chain? A little confused here.

It means they will move from being a parachain to selling of coretime to projects. Polkadot is is all about cores. Core time is the time for a specific core to process the transactions of a project. I will try to explain further. First, you can take Polkadot as computer system but with multiple cores that processes transactions at the same time. It has around 50 cores and can increase to arround 1000 in the future. Polkadot 2.0 is centered around optimising the use of the core. Presently, Polkadot uses a slot auction model that allows a parachains (over 40 of them now) to have continuous access to their own individual core (analogous to CPU). This didn't seem efficient. Gavin then thought that most parachains don't use up their core time while there are other projects which might need the unused core time but can't get it because they aren't parachains. To optimise the use of this coretime, Gavin is proposing bulk and instantaneous sales of core time. Bulk sales would allow buying of core time for 4 weeks while instantaneous sale would allow any project who needs a core time to buy for immediate use. I will stop here and hope this has simplified things for you. There is more though, selling of coretime in form of NFTs and co. I am actually working on two mega threads to simplify Polkadot operation. I will post one this week on Twitter.

Well, in a manner of speaking. Ultimately, there won't be parachain slot like we have now. It will become Blockchain/project core time. No more owning of parachain slots.
