Would it be possible to obfuscate your balances and tx

history by having a light wallet request 100x more addresses than necessary, with 99% of those addresses not even being in your wallet?

One problem is, when you spend your coins and get change or simply generate new addresses, you will have to change those filters No, thats not how that works. You can check flowee pay which uses bloom filters and in normal every day operation it won't be sending a new filter.

That's kinda how bloom filters work. They use false positives. One problem is, when you spend your coins and get change or simply generate new addresses, you will have to change those filters and there will be overlaps between new filters and old ones for example that can help give you away.
