Do BTC transactions really get rejected if the inputs were

recently coinjoined?

Yep. Mostly some retarded exchanges. The more retarded the exchange, the more likely it is it will do something like this. Some coins can be sanctioned by US tho and then probably most exchanges will block such transfer.

You cannot cheaply and reliably do CoinJoin on BTC any more at all because of wait times, unreliable confirmations and high fees, so CoinJoin is out of the question anyway, unless you're very rich. BTC has been fucked for years, and now it is basically dead for all except rich people.

yea I'm aware of this. I still have some coinjoined BTC from a while ago. i deposited to an australian exchange and they seemed to accept it but asked a bunch of questions and refused to increase my withdrawal limit

Oh, you have just detected a retarded exchange. Maybe try some more "normal" exchange. I would suggest Kraken right now.

so what happens, do they send the BTC back ?

I have no idea, that depends on how much retarded they are. There are different levels of "retarded" you know.
