the p2p sites have become overrun with scams or have been deserted. :(
I've used CoinsBee.com with good results. The only caution I'd give is that Ebay Gift Cards eventually resulted in a permanent suspension of my account. Ebay refuse to clarify on "why". I have no reason to believe the Ebay Gift Cards are illegitimate - I think they just have a strict censor/suspicious activity system and I got caught under its net. And, rather than assisting, it was just easier for them to ban me.
Assisting with what? Did you redeem too many codes? Too many dollars? What problem did you need assistance with?
Ive bought cards here. But have not tried the mc or visa. https://buy.cakepay.com/
Sorry, I should probably back up a little: 1. I could successfully apply my Gift Card to my account but, eventually, whenever I attempted to make a purchase, I'd get a generic "payment failed" error message. 2. I kept having to reach out to their support team (painful process) and have them do "something" on their end to allow the transaction to go through (one of them told me my transactions were getting flagged as suspicious or something). 3. This was pretty annoying to have to do for every transaction, so eventually I asked them for a permanent fix (got them to create - and prove to me - they created a ticket... Ebay support are notoriously bad and will lie about stuff like that). 4. Rather than fixing the underlying issue where my tx's were getting marked as suspicious, they just permanently suspended my account instead. 5. Calling them up, they sent me around in circles for ages and, when I was eventually escalated "as high as [I] could go", they refused to tell me why my account was permanently suspended and refused to unsuspend me.
Also, this was Ebay Australia... and all up, probably redeemed $2K'ish worth of gift cards.
How long did they spend fine before you began needing support? Ten times? A thousand dollars? A year? I wonder how I can stay under the limit if there is one.
It was a bit unpredictable. My take on it is that the escalation to their Technical Support was what caused the actual ban (laziness - I don't think they wanted to deal with it and their online agents kept promising me "I won't have this problem again", so I would've looked like an unhappy customer). My suggestion would be to just keep the individual amounts you apply with Gift Card low (e.g. < $250) and, if you start needing to go through that "reach out to support for approval" process, that's probably the point where you should back off with using gift cards. As I said before, I've had people I gave a single $250 gift card to who also got flagged on some tx's, so it's not really predictable. Ebay apparently will even ban people for using VPNs, I've heard.
Thanks for the info! I guess I wasn't clear. I want to buy gift cards with fiat and then trade them for crypto. basically to do the inverse of coinsbee haha.
LocalMonero has lots of options. Maybe that’s one of them.
If you're still in need of gift cards maybe we can exchange between us. I'll be your personal coinsbee 😂
I was looking into agoradesk (same people behind localmonero) and I saw from user responses that there have been a ramp up of scams. not the fault of the developers obviously, but it does make me hesitate.
