That's... Not very flattering. There is a common argument out there, that cryptocurrency hasn't done anything good for anyone, except making some types of crime easier.

He's being facetious. There's loads of other stuff it's done. Help people pay others internationally. Help refugees escape oppressive regimes with their money. Help people escape inflation and debasement in all their trash fiat currencies. etc.

It's not just money laundring it's also tremendesly helps with routing around bank fees and monopolies. Using virgocx and e-transfer I can get php on my philipine bank account in about 15 minutes. On a 1000 CAD it saves me about 80 CAD vs a wire transfer.

that's a super terrible take, every coin in the top 100 has a huge amount of money laundering flowing through them successfully. money laundering is not speculative.
