I think it's a matter of strategy. BCH is better than BTC and it aims to be peer to peer cash but it's not private at all. If you want to detach from the current system XMR is definitely the way. If you aim to increase adoption to the point it no longer matters that they can see your transactions then BCH is the way.

"better" is subjective and "in what aspect?" had to be asked. For speculation? p2p payment? or b2b payment? etc but I guess you are asking about speculation ("investment"). IIRC, BCH was forked from BTC due to mismatch in core philosophy, namely the ability to really be used as digital cash (scalability) and implementation of SegWit which centralizes the network. That's why you see large difference in price pump pattern and volume, as they serve different masters.
