this is being blown way out of proportion.
We are not deleting our Telegram or not allowing you to talk about anything you want, anywhere you want. We just won't be allowing conversation on our owned TG. It's not because we don't like you, not because we don't want to hear what you have to say, or don't listen to the community.
It's about bandwitdh and trying to do more with less. We eliminated a number of positions, we've started our strategic pivot, we're talking to a new group, trying to find new ways to drive the business. This place is incredibly hard to moderate, takes a ton of time away from us that could be used to drive the business, and frankly the negativity and questions being asked over and over again is taxing. It's the platform and how it's built.
We've tried playing around with channels here, and it's clunky and doesn't work. The people testing it didn't like it, and made our jobs incredibly more difficult. This place is essentially a huge text chat, which isn't really what we're looking to have right now.
So instead of trying to moderate many different channels, we're going to combine. Some people love Discord, some love Telegram...clearly neither side is going to be thrilled, but we had to make a decision. So be it.
We're trying to conserve, we're trying to do more, we want to become more technical focused and provide amazing support for builders. Both those few that are still here and those we're going to be bringing into the ecosystem. Discord is just a better place for that.
In no way shape or form are we trying to "censor" anyone, or trying to "not effectively communicate" with the community. We're just centralizing our efforts because our team is small and instead of replying to the same question 100x's a day, we need to be working more.
That's it. No big deal. No need for dramatic exits. No need for the sky to fall. We have to make a large shift to LinkedIn meaning we either need to hire, which I didn't want to do, or we need to scale down. Can't scale down Twitter, can't scale down Discord right?
It's a lose/lose situation and unfortunately the decision had to be made. If it's the wrong decision, that's cool. We'll pivot back and open it up. If it's the right decision, the ecosystem gets more attention then they had before. Maybe that moves the needle. We don't know.
So again, before people start losing their minds. We have been listening and we have changed a ton of things in the last year. We have shipped some good stuff, we have communicated way more, we have been transparent and truthful (which some are still holding against us) and we've got a ton on the horizon. This isn't personal. This isn't about FUD. This is just business.
See you all on Discord 😘
Well said mike 🙏❤️
So, it’s sounds like a personal revenge. Covered of course, but that’s the point when you when you put your personal grievances above business.
Personal grievences above business? I explained business reasons, not personal feelings.
