The amount of tokens aren't fixed. If you had 3k at the time of the snapshot you can still stake 15k. You can also use that 3k in the Smartflow until ds launches and transfer them there if you wish.

what is the advantage of the snapshot?

Advantage is being able to run a node for digital spine which might have a higher apy than smartflow by the time it launches.

That's up to you to decide where to put your tokens. But the idea is the the snapshot limits people entering the pool, so it may give better relative rewards.
