the op_return limit?
I don't think anyone is currently pushing for raising the OP_RETURN limit
We can also allow for multiple now, and the limit on collective op_returns is the overall transaction limit, TMU. https://bitcoincashresearch.org/t/chip-2021-03-multiple-op-returns-for-bitcoin-cash/
That increases complexity and non-viable
There's incredible utility we can all have from allowing the tiniest bit of purnable non-monetary data to be passed along with a transaction, but if that utility is expanded to make it trivial to store jpegs or movies in the ledger, it could ruin a lot of utility and increase complexity prematurely for everyone. There have been web apps that split short messages and long forum markdown across multiple op_returns, but it does slightly increase complexity to store, index and use data split across many returns.
Why do you ask 😅
