Do anybody have some memory of what was the difference

in block height between btc and bch at the time we implemented the current difficulty adjustment algoritm? I could not pull it out of bitinfocharts.

I have a feeling that the current difference of 2167 has become smaller. I wonder if btc will halve first next time.

Assuming BTC’s hash continues to increase; if it decreased slowly, then the distance would grow greater

the difference is expected to get gradually smaller over time since ASERT is very responsive and so tend to keep to schedule much better. BTC's 2016-block adjustment means technology will in aggregate lead to a little bit of speed up each cycle.
