How is it physically possible that a token like stETH

without any monetary premium component can have a higher yield than sfrxeth ever?

The monetary premium has been reduced compared to the past as more and more people have sfrxETH than frxETH alone. Websites will report APRs/APYs in different ways. A long time ago I came up with a fair way to compare it that simply tracks the actual growth of the token. This chart is visible in the top left of the frxETH page and you can click the question mark icon to see the exact methodology that is used to come up with that data too

All else being equal and even one frxeth not staking vs sfrxeth over time theoretically sfrxeth should have higher yield right? (Taking out mev performance). Do you think mev is playing a big role in this disparity? Does lido have sort of internal connections that gives them mev priority or something?

It’s not like sfrxETH has been consistently lower than stETH. As Justin said, you get an off week or two due to stETH MEV being better yes, but mostly it is indeed higher, so let’s not forget that.

Overall, yes, it’s higher which is great! From a technical standpoint, is MEV the only factor that could make stETH higher, even if it’s only higher for a day, or, are there any other factors that could cause it?
