HP
Brother only. It works for years decades without a malfunction, also Linux support is very good. It's expensive though. But ink is super cheap and lasts forever.
Brother printers cost 3x-4x the equivalent HP/Canon counterparts. But when you divide the increased initial cost of Brother by the numbers of years it can work non-stop without buying the ink new print head for 80% cost of a new printer, it turns out it is much cheaper.
Canon/HP is basically not really a purchase. It's a subscription.
Brother:) https://www.theverge.com/2024/4/2/24117976/best-printer-2024-home-use-office-use-labels-school-homework
I have a similar model.. been chugging along for 5 + years with heavy use.
Well, you didn’t say inkjet, and I have no Brother experience because I do all laser, but I can tell you that if you have Windows, HP drivers are awful. If you’re looking at laser, Xerox has mich lighter and more reliable drivers (not to mention fusers). If you’re looking at ink, then the number of votes I just saw for Brother got my attention.
Brother laser. Never again hp.
Brother b/w laser (mfc 7460 dn) with automatic document feeder, scan unit (works with linux). Everything works over ethernet. Works well with linux cups and also android print services. No hardware problems except dirty duplex unit, but i don't use that and probably just needs cleaning.
I have a Canon Maxify MB2140 and it is brilliant.
I ended up with a brother that I found on fb marketplace for $50
It is an ink jet printer. The ink-"tanks" are expensive, with a suspect practice of having the int tanks delivered with the printer not full. The good part is that it always works, even if it has not been used for weeks or months. I even have one which I leave unused basically for a year. When started, it does some magic which can take several minutes for the first page. There is also never a paper crash. The print quality is exellent. There is also a scanner and a simple button-press for offline copying.
I don't think it has a print head, other than the cartridges.
So basically the same with any modern All-In-One Brother, just that with Brother ink is dirt cheap and you do not need to replace whole catdriges. You can just refill manually.
Probably, the shop even pointed out that a similar printer with refillable cartridges would be cheaper. But I don't print that much, so the cartridge cost is tolerable for me
Bruh, you need to use a 4-color, CMYK LASER PRINTER. No ink, no print jets, just toner and after like a million prints, new printer drums for the imaging units.
Yeah, you need good ventilation if you are doing high capacity. Toner and ozone.
I think small amounts would still be toxic
That said, I do not need to perfect absolute quality of laser printer. I would only need it if, for example, I printed out A LOT of BCH stickers or leaflets of paper wallets, which I don't do.
