So isn't it good for BTC to be locked in the VM? After all it is a stored value.

Well that’s good, yes, but at the same time since the network is going through so many changes, the possibility of an unforeseen vulnerability is going to be higher. Been a lot of hacks lately, and as hard as they have tried to make sure everything works right, when the upgrades happen if something goes wrong they just don’t want Ren to be holding on to enormous amounts of BTC.
