but if I buy traditional stock it usually takes 2 days until they are transfered, because ownership has to be transfered right? I assume the stock is sitting somewhere in a bank then with my name on it. How does this work when I mint a stock, do I actually own the stock or is it an IOU? Maybe this has been answered already and I can read it up somewhere?
You own a completely synthetic representation of the stock. There is no corresponding stock that is tied to what you purchase. Your synthetic stock is 150% value or greater backed by various collateral (50% DFI and dBTC,dETH, dUSDC, etc).
No, if you buy a traditional stock it does not take 2 days. And no, the synthetic assets on DefiChain are not backed by real assets.
There is the trade date and settlement date and afaik settlement is around 2 days.
Question, if it's not actually connected to the stock market outside of having prices pegged, if I invest in something like Tesla how does that benefit the company?
It does not benefit Tesla at all. There is no relationship between the synthetic Tesla and real world company/stock. Only named the same and when you mint it a historical price (up to 2h old) is used to determine the costs.
