Or do we? Think about it. Indexers understand it. Multicoin wallets understands it. The ecosystem "understands" it . And then there comes induction. At the cost of some "stupid bcashers they protested now they are adding it, we won" we enable a change that is widely supported already, causing close to no disruption whatsoever and get the sweet sweet miner validated tokens :P the reason not to is cultural residues
