about price:
“Hi everyone!
Could you please explain me how the price ratio between ETH and stETH is maintained at 1:1?
I understand the direction ETH —> stETH, since the smart contract at Lido is written to do exactly that. However, the ETH is then staked and cannot be extracted until Phase 2. How then can Lido give ETH back? Or how is the price of stETH at any exchange be equal to ETH? I assume, this is based on the FAITH that everything goes well with the move Ethereum 2 and ETH can be redeemed after Phase 2 by the means of the same smart contract. But what if there are problems with the switch to Ethereum 2? Should the price of stETH not drop severely then?”
Yup, that’s correct. It’s because at that point, users will be able to redeem their stETH for ETH via Lido. Your last point also makes sense too. @af271
Thanks!
