Hi What does this mean when Ben said in theory 5200 nodes can be onboard on the network but due to security and use case, that will not happen’. Does this mean some of the 5200 node holders will be left out ?. Will there selection criteria that is available in public domain ?

No, what Ben said (per my understanding of his words) that the 19 million transactions per second is something that Constellation is theoretically capable of with the 5200 current nodes (that are in the soft staking at the moment as the onboarding process hasn’t happened yet for the majority and in practice people first start out on testnet before allowed onto mainnet). So how I understood it was that we wouldn’t want to validate that much data that fast for security and utility reasons but we could in theory if wanted to. I’m open to be corrected but I think that is what he meant.

Thanks for the response. Yes, I know 5200 nodes on soft nodes that can be potentially onboarded at least in theory which will be capable of providing 19mil TPS when Mainnet 2.0 is live. However, I understand it doesn’t make sense to have all the 5200 nodes on the network if no data is following through or enough state channels are alive, why security has to do this wrt to number of nodes in the network ?

I can only guess here… maybe someone more versed, smarter 🤓 would chime in… I believe it has to do with how validation works on each state channel… So Constellation has node operators on the mainnet (let’s say mainnet2), they also always will have node operators in testnet (as projects need to test prior to onboarding in a setting) then there is depends on what kind of node just mainnet or a hybrid node of mainnet and state channel or is it only a node for a certain state channel? So data validation in a case of a hybrid node would need to happen both on the state channel level and on the layer0 level… If you add all these together it will slow down that number… imo… why security? because each state Chanel has their own set rules (imaging them like States in the US) they have their main rules and securities by Constellation’s mainnet but each state channel like states have their own governing rules… and if a bad action happens on a state channel level it will be caught and cut out at state channel level first. But again this is how I think of it… and also depending on what utility the validation is used for can affect things… how complex certain data sets are…how much bandwidth does it require? Hope it helps and wait for someone smarter to chime in lol 🙈😁 -A
